The University of Talca (UTalca) is a leader in research in in Chile and in the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region. According to Scimago Institution and University Rankings, it is ranked 38th in the continent and 6th in Chile. It is also ranked 11th among the country's business and economics schools. On issues related to gender equity and equal pay, the following peer-reviewed research journals have been produced: ‘Technology, Gender and Organizations: A Systematic Mapping Study’ (IEEE Access journal), ‘Women's Entrepreneurship and Government Policy: Facilitating Access to Credit through a National Program in Chile’ (Social Sciences journal), ‘Assessing Plan B: The Effect of the Morning After Pill on Children and Women’ (The Economic Journal), ‘The Part-Time Premium Enigma: An Assessment of the Chilean Case’ (LACEA Economics journal). Additionally, the following projects on gender equity and pay equity issues have been implemented by the lead professor at the University: ‘Pilot Project Promoting Social Dialogue in Chile: Gender neutral job evaluations for the reduction of wage gaps’, "Scientific-technological project on gender wage gap. Fondef ID 20I10388 of ANID‘, ’Pension education for young students in the regions of Coquimbo, Maule and Los Ríos", which includes a gender approach to the pension gap between men and women. These projects highlight important steps towards the advancement of SDG 5 and 8, particularly SDG target 8.5 on equal pay for work of equal value.

UTalca’s is guided by recent Chilean regulations on Gender Equality for higher education institutions (Law N°21.369 on Sexual Harassment, Violence and Gender Discrimination in Higher Education). Details of UTalca's comprehensive policy within the framework of this law and its intervention models, as well as the other regulations and protocols in force, are available on the university’s website www.violenciadegenero.utalca.cl. UTalca has also approved its own regulations: R.U N°1219/2022 as well as other related instruments, R.U N°1577/2022; R.U N°1486/2022; R.U N°1326/2022; R.U N°1325/2022 and subsequent modifications. For implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the regulations, the university has two major projects: INES and the Gender Observatory.

 UTalca belongs to an extensive network of national and foreign universities. It also belongs to academic societies, research and teaching institutions and associations. This includes institutions such as ACSB from the business world, and collaboration and agreements with global organisations. Additionally, through the ILO and the ILO Technical Training Centre in Turin, UTacla has disseminated, implemented and received training on the gender-neutral job evaluation methodology, and social dialogue in different LAC countries and in Spain. In this way, FEN continues to contribute to the elaboration of analyses and development of statistics for use by governments, journalists, civil society, and individuals.

Through EPIC, UTalca hopes to share its experience globally and regionally, contributing from Chile with innovative experiences that have even received awards - First Place in Eikon Awards 2023 in the category "Sustainability of Diversity, Inclusion and Gender" for the project NiMásNiMenos-. EPIC is also an important platform for disseminating information and developing partnerships for research and engaging in projects with other EPIC member universities, as well as for conducting webinars and e-learning courses for students on gender equality and equal pay between men and women.
